Having lived, traveled and done business in 30 countries on 5 continents, Brendan Monahan's language skills have helped him build long-lasting customer and partner relationships that have generated billions of dollars for his employers. It is only by learning the local language, even if only on a basic level, that you can overcome the communication and cultural barriers that are essential in doing business overseas.
Mandarin Chinese Fluency
Brendan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. He has studied the language for 7 years and spoken it for over 14 years. He learned Mandarin Chinese at San Diego State University, where he achieved his B.A. in International Business, and while living in the Guang Dong Province of China, in the city of Shan Tou for 6 months, and while living in Taiwan, where he spent 6 months studying the language at Tung Hai University in the city of Tai Zhong and a 6 months studying the language in the capital, Tai Pei.
Additional Language Experience
Brendan's international experience has also enabled him to learn basic language skills in the following languages:
- Thai
- Vietnamese
- Japanese
- Tagalog
- German
- Spanish
Brendan may not be fluent in these languages, but he does have a good starting foundation from his years of previous experience.
